27111     Introduction to Archaeology

This course provides an introduction to the science of archeology and traces its origin.  It includes the study of different types of archeological sites and how to identify these sites through different types of surveying.  It presents different archeological excavations and identifies the goal of the excavation mission.  Students are also trained to record finds then classify them and identify the ways of relative and ultimate chronological documentation.  The course also discusses the relationship between archeology and other humanitarian, social and applied disciplines.  The course further surveys the environment and ways of living in the different ages, the tools that were used on daily basis and the ways of manufacturing and maintaining them.  It also talks about the relevance of archeology nowadays.

27112    Introduction to Tourism

This course aims at introducing students to the field of tourism and its relationship to other disciplines.  It also introduces different types of tourism, its importance and role in reinforcing the economy and raising the national income in countries especially those who possess tourist attractions and facilities.

27213    Stratography of Palestine

This course explores the archeological importance of Palestine throughout the ages.  It studies the different historical periods starting from the Stone age, the copper stone age, Bronze age, Iron age and continuing through the classic ages until the end of the Byzantine era.

27214    Archeology of the Ancient East

This course provides an introduction about the ancient orient area, its location, nature and importance in the world civilization.  It explores the influence of agriculture and the use of metal on the economic, social and political development.  It provides an exhibition of the architecture of temples and palaces as well as the dwellings in Iraq, Egypt and Syria.  It explores all these taking into account the architectural factors and types, the local fundamental principles and outside influences as well as pottery and granite industry.  It analyzes the role of religion and environment in the emergence and development of cultures and the first cultures in the near East.

27215    Archeology of Greeks and Romans

This course includes an introduction about the history and geography of the countries ruled by the Greeks.  It also includes the study of architecture, Greek Arts and cities.  This course includes introducing the student to the geographical and historical circumstances that the Romans went through.  Studying the Roman architecture and art with questions about that.  There is focus on the Greek and Roman archeological sites in Palestine.  The course includes organizing a field trip to some Roman and Greek archeological sites.

27216    Tourism in Palestine

This course surveys the development of Palestinian Tourism.   It also covers the main pillars of the Palestinian tourist products and the types of tourism in addition to  the economic, cultural and domestic importance of Palestinian tourism.   It also talks about the tourist services and policies.  The course further addresses the organizational aspects of Palestinian tourism and the legislations and ethics related to tourism, archeology and heritage. 

27217     Scientific Research Methodology

This course aims at equipping students with the principles of scientific research, writing theses and reports in the field of tourism and archeology.   Students are trained in the steps of scientific research starting by choosing the topic, filed work, formulating hypotheses and testing them using different ways of measuring and analyzing information.  Students finally hold discussions of research results and recommendations

27218    Using G.I.S in tourism and archeology

This course includes a practical side in addition to the theoretical one.  The student is introduced to the meaning and principles of the GIS system.    They also get an idea about the equipment, the programs, the human innovation and the historical development of this science.  Then the student  is exposed to case studies in applying GIS on the geographical environment and how to work on tourist maps. 

27219    English terminology for Tourism and archaeology

This course aims at equipping students with knowledge of the common terminology in the field of tourism and archeology.  That can be achieved through a discussion of the basics in tourism and archeology by means of the proper terminology

27315     Pottery

This course includes the study of pottery since its discovery at the modern stone age until the end of the Ottoman Empire.  This includes identifying the ways and techniques of manufacturing, the proper soil for that, the shape and design of pottery as well as its types and functions.    

27316    Islamic Architecture

This course provides an introduction to the early Islamic architecture, the relationship between Islamic architecture on the one hand and Byzantium and Sassanid architecture on the other hand.  It also studies the innovation aspects of Muslim work in this field, the influence of religion, climate and raw material on architecture.  The course also covers the differences among the different Islamic architectural types including the religious, the urban and the military in addition to studying the main architectural models with a clear slide show

27317    Ancient and Islamic Art

This course covers the history of Art in ancient ages.  It covers the stone as well as the Greek, Roman and Byzantium ages.  It also covers the main arts in old ages such as photography, sculpture and mosaic.  The course familiarizes students with the emergence of the Islamic art, Islam's position with regard to painting as well as the relationship between Islamic art and other types of art.  The course surveys the main arts in which Muslims excelled including murals, wood carvings, metal embroidery, glass manufacturing, manuscripts, etc.  It also talks about the influence of Islamic Art on European art.

27318     Numismatics

This course combines the practical with the theoretical side.  It talks about the start of using numismatics as currency in civilized societies.  Then it talks about the development of numismatics in Roman, Greek, Byzantium and Sassanid periods.  It also covers the topic during the Islamic period and the role of Muslims in this regard, thus introducing the types and special features of currency in the different Islamic periods.

27319    Offices of Tourism and Travel

This course includes a practical side in addition to the theoretical one. Students are introduced to the concept of tourist and travel agencies, the tourism  brokers, the importance and function of the tourism agencies, its organization, administration and planning of activities.  It also covers the operations of organizing and marketing individual and group trips as well as the relationship between a tourist agency and other tourist jobs and activities.

27320    Archeology of Jerusalem

This course covers the history of Jerusalem from the beginning to the present.  Focus is given to  the material remains of the Jebusites and the Canaanites.  It also focuses on the Islamic and Byzantium remains.  The course covers field visits to Jerusalem and learning from slide shows. 

27321    Hotel management

The course traces the development of hospitality industry, types of hotels, hotel organizations, services, hotel facilities and hotel management.  It also covers tourist restaurants and villages, resorts and main services.    The course has a practical and theoretical sides. 

27322    Tourist Guiding

This course introduces the concept of tour guiding and using the guide badge.  It also covers the job skills related to that and the rights of the tourist guide.  The course also covers the art of leading groups with special interests and needs and how to establish a society for tour guiding.

27323    Tourism Marketing

The course explores methods of marketing, tourist products as well as studying the policies of tourist products and the mechanisms of pricing.  It also covers ways of identifying tourist needs and incentives and how to observe the tourist moves through statistical studies. It also covers ways of encouraging marketing campaigns of traditional industries through preparing an effective marketing strategy for local and external tourism

27411   Preservation and Restoration

Familiarizing students with the importance of preserving and maintaining archeological sites, and keeping portable archeological pieces that are made of copper, Bronze, Iron, Silver, pottery and glass. The course also discusses best techniques of wrapping these pieces to protect them.  Students are also familiarized with the laws related to protecting antiquities inside museums and knowing the local and regional laws related to that. 

27413    Field Work

Students are introduced to different ways of excavating, documenting, and surveying archeological sites theoretically and practically.  This is done through the student's presence under direct supervision of a specialist.  At the end of the course a student gives a detailed report of the site he\she excavated in addition to doing field visits of museums and archeological monuments

27414    Museums Science

The course covers the emergence and development of museums, as well as their goals and objectives, the history of some international and Arab museums.  The course presents a model study of a museum, choosing its location, building, design, showcase cupboards and showcase lists.  It also shows the containers of the undisplayed items, the labels, lighting, security of the museum,  administration as well as preservation and maintenance.

27415    Tourism Planning

Students are familiarized with the emergence and development of tourism and its importance as well as the importance of tourist planning and its role in keeping local heritage besides the tourist attractions in a country.  The course also covers the ways of preparing tourist plans for  areas and resorts.  Students are also familiarized with the positive and negative effects of planning. 

27416   Reading tourist maps

The  This course includes a practical side.  It aims at giving students a general idea about the use of tourist maps and preparing them according to modern electronic programs.  It also familiarizes students with all the international symbols used in tourist maps.  

27417   Graduation Project

This course is twofold.  In the first part students are required to do an internship at one the local tourist agencies. In the second part they are asked to present a research project related to topics in archeology and tourism
